At Long Last....

Ok, so finally getting around to the Casey Stratton Concert Review:

Here's the setlist:

Mississippi Pizza Pub - Portland, OR 5.6.06

The Hardest Part - A wonderful song and great way to start the show.
Wild Soul - This is my 2nd favorite song on the new album, and the chorus is even more haunting live.
Hollow - Love this song. Strange to hear it acoustic, but awesome.
Maybe For a Minute - Another favorite from the new album, really rocking.
Ocean - This is my favorite song from SATE.
Fake Plastic Trees - Cover of a Radiohead song. It was cool, but I'm not that familiar with the song or the band.
The Dead Sea - Love this song, he really did a great job.
You Can Have Your Freedom Back - This song makes me want to cry, very powerful.
When the End Arrives - Sounds much different live, but still great.
Shenandoah - Traditional Folk Song. Very nice. I still need to download this album.
Code - Love this song.
We Belong - Pat Benatar cover, he sang it for Scotty.
Opaline - Amazing, totally shows how wide Casey's vocal range is.
Pray For Rain - The last song sadly, but one of the best.

I got this picture taken and he autographed my CD. I hope he comes back soon. If he comes to your town, you should definitely see him.

Touched By His Noodly Appendage

I got my new GelaSkin today.
It turned out to be even slicker than I had anticipated. They've got some nifty designs and I definitely recommend them.

Working In the Backyard

Spent some time today when it wasn't raining, working in the backyard. I pulled some weeds and did a little taking stock. The grass definitely needs to be re-seeded, and I think a bunch of stuff needs to get ripped out.
It's hard to say what can go back there and what will survive in the shade. Who knew having trees would be so much work.
Here are a couple of poor pictures of the trees and one of the amazing rose bush that borders the deck.

Orange Roses and Pots Galore

I've been busy this week with work and such. I also started doing some things to make the yard space a little more mine. I'm sure the neighbors appreciated me pulling weeds. The back still needs a bunch of work to make it less jungle like, but I don't think anything will happen with that until next year. I planted 5 or so rose bushes in front of the house and will plant bulbs come fall. I also dug out my pots finally and put in some annuals. They didn't turn out as nice as when Andrea does them, but then, I'm not a professional. Seems PON is on the same page that I am. Love those roses. You can see more photos on my Flickr stream, but be warned, my camera sucks.

Handmaidens and Perpetual Pre-Pregnancy

So, PoN and I were talking about a Washington Post article that Mac had recently posted about on her blog. The basis of the article is new
CDC guidelines ask all females capable of conceiving a baby to treat themselves -- and to be treated by the health care system -- as pre-pregnant, regardless of whether they plan to get pregnant anytime soon.

I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone to EVER say I'm "pre-pregnant". Hell, I'm not even sure where I fit into the picture since I now can't have children. Maybe I should run out and start smoking and drinking since my health isn't as important to the CDC since I'm not a potential breeder anymore.
I guess the CDC is just preparing us for the time when birth control and abortion are illegal. The advice they give is good advice, woman and men should take better care of themselves, but the point of the directives to help with high infant mortality are not going to be changed by making all breeding age woman "pre-pregnant" we need to crack down on poverty and increase access to healthcare. Good luck with that...
Mac also wrote a nice letter to the CDC and her congress critters.

Casey Stratton is just....WOW

So, tonight, I went off by myself and saw Casey Stratton at this little pub in Portland.
I'm trying to put into words just how AMAZING the show was. Casey sounds beyond wonderful live. He's also a great person. I got his autograph on my copy of Divide and even got my picture taken with him. I'm hoping that Scott and Erin (who I forced myself upon) will send me some information on where the picture will get posted.
More when I have time to write something coherent. As for now, I'm off to dreamland.

Personality Test

Schoolyard Bully
You are 28% Rational, 71% Extroverted, 57% Brutal, and 28% Arrogant.
You are the Schoolyard Bully! You focus more on feelings than rationality, and thus tend to be driven by your emotions rather than by a steering wheel, because human beings don't have those. You are probably easy to anger or annoy, for instance. You are also an extrovert who wouldn't mind having a lot of attention, although you may not always get it. Another character trait you possess is your brutality, manifested by the fact that you tend to be aggressive and do not care about the well-being of others. In school, you may have been the kid who stuffed the short kid into lockers, or who distributed swirlies to anyone who scored higher than a B on the science quiz. I wouldn't be surprised if you think the word "faggot" is the greatest insult known to man. Also, you exhibit signs of humility, leading one to conlude that you are actually insecure, because very few people are truly humble AND brutal. Thus, like any schoolyard bully, you seek constant attention for yourself and have no issues with administering beatings because you are quite emotional and easy to upset. Not only that, but your insecurity may be a prime motivation for your brutality. As psychologists have noted, most schoolyard bullies only pick on others because they have a negative self-image. This could possibly be true of you. Either that or you are just really hungry and need lunch money. In short, your personality defects are your brutality, extroversion, irrationality, and your possible insecurity. Go pick on someone your own size! But not me. I'm a midget, I swear.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational.

2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.

3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Haughty Intellectual. (Bullies like to beat up nerds, after all.)

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Bitch-Slap, the Capitalist Pig, and the Class Clown.

*

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

In My Head

Under the weight of your wings
You are a god and whatever I want you to be
And I wonder if truly you are
Nearly as beautiful as I believe

In my head
Your voice
You've got all that I need
And this make believe will get me through
Another lonely night

Under the weight of your wings
Should ever we meet on your side of your stereo
I will pretend I know not of your thoughts
And even the way that they mirror my own
I'll take you away in the way that you take me and go where I go

In my head
Your voice
You've got all that I need
And this make believe will get me through
Another lonely night

Fall away to the sound of my heart to your beat
Melancholy and cool, kind of bitter sweet
Love on repeat
I'm echoing all your philosophies
And as I fall away to the sound of my heart to your beat
Melancholy and cool, kind of bitter sweet
Love on repeat
I'm echoing all your philosophies
And as I...

Oh...

I don't
Wanna be fool-hearted
Baby, I'm out-numbered
in my head
I don't
I don't wanna be fool-hearted
Baby, I'm out-numbered
in my head
My head
My head

In my head
Your voice
You've got all that I need
And this make believe will get me through
Another night

Yeah, your voice
You've got all that I need
And this make believe will get me through
Another lonely night

Lonely night...

Under the weight of your wings
I make believe you are all that I'll ever need

All that I need.

Random Lyrics

Yesterday the odds were stacked in favor of my expectations
Flyin' above the rest, never fallin' from the nest
Tuesday came and went and I'm in a little situation
Maybe it's for the best
I could live alone, I guess

Maybe I could stand alone
Maybe I'm strong as stone
Even though the bird has flown
Maybe she'll fly on home

Excuse me if I'm keeping you apart from better conversation
Hung up on all my doubt
Trying to sort the whole thing out
Tell me that I'm smart enough to deal with all the information
Spinning inside my head
Every word she ever said

Maybe I could stand alone
Maybe I'm strong as stone
Even though the bird has flown
Maybe she'll fly on home

Happy Beltaine

Things have been sort of strange around here. Fitting into the new(old) job more or less. Working more than I wanted or expected, but hoping things get back into a rhythm after a bit.
It's been a busy week, and I'm settling back into my routine.
Last week, I gave myself a sterilization for Beltaine. I figured since I was going in for the thermal ablation I might as well get it all done at once.
My mom came out to take me in for my surgery and to babysit me for a week while I recovered. It was nice to see her, and while she was here she cleaned and organized my kitchen and dining room.
I missed her a bunch and was very sad to see her go home.
She'll be back in July along with my Dad, Sister and Nephew. We're going to the coast for a week and staying at a nice rental cottage place. We checked it out and the place is super nice. I can't wait.
